The Bushtits descend on the bird bath.. They won't let me get close enough for a sharp image but they do share well with others.
The nuthatch increased his visits throughout August. By the end of the month they were coming all day as a pair. Maybe they had eggs that hatched.
The chickadees seem to be smaller and some a bit rumpled than they were in spring.
Anna's Hummingbirds stand out in the right light. They seemed to chase any other bird near them away. Their games of tag were so fast that it was impossible for me to tell whether or not it was a game or territorial.
By the end of the August the number of hummingbirds diminished. The Rufous Hummingbirds were the only ones I could identify. The marking at their throats made it easier to identify individuals.
The younger the Song Sparrow the more aggressive they seemed to be. The one below looks like he could make a nestmates life pure misery.
The younger Song Sparrows stopped their demanding feeding behavior since the beginning of August. This might be the reason some look the worst for wear.
The young House Finches also look a bit shabby.
The young Towhees are still feeding with their parents. They are slowly getting more colorful plumage
The Yellow Warbler remains as elusive as ever. I saw it at the beginning of August but it flew away when I tried to get close enough to photograph it.I caught this on in the bath but could not get any closer.
