Pine Siskin

Flocks of Pine Siskins troop through my yard nearly every year I've been able to keep track. It took me a while to see their thin beak and yellow wing flash to distinguish them from female House Finches who mix with Siskins at the feeder. In my area they are the "bird in the coal mine" as their flocking behavior and nearly tame feeding habits make them susceptible catching whatever bird disease is going around.
