Bewick's Wren

The local Bewick's Wrens are shy. Until 2015 I'd rarely seen them away from the protection of thickets down on the creek. One year I caught a pair making eyes at one another. The smaller darker male was energetically vocal while the female was nonchalant. The pair were around for the next month. After the end of March my only sightings were of the male. The next year there would only be a brief sighting or two. When they are here, they can be heard singing heartily from the tops of all the nearby trees and seen foraging under the fir trees.
